On Saturday 5th March 2016 we will again be holding a fun run at Parramatta Riverside Park,
It’s a push, walk or ride event… an event that is accessible to everyone.
There will be three categories of event:
1. The Really Serious People Event: This will be a 8 kilometre self-timed run or ride for those who want a little friendly competition – $30 registration.
2. The More Leisurely Event: Is a 2 to 4 kilometre track that you can walk, ride, push or run, either by yourself, with your family or with a group – $30 registration.
3. The Cake Walk Event: For those who just want to wander for a while… and then eat cake – $20 registration (includes cake).
A family of 3 or more people can register for $50. And if you’ve got a group of people interested, you can register as a team and combine your fundraising efforts. If you share your registration through social media you can also get other people to sponsor you for your great race.
Marshalling will open at 7.00am with a start time of 7.30am for the Really Serious People and between 8.00am and 9.30am for other participants. We’ve decided to have a couple of different tracks for the Really Serious People so that we can cater for everyone whatever their race style. One will be a simple loop that you can do 10 times for a 6km option, one will be a track that takes you just over 7 km but still without too many hills, and one will be for runners only (it has stairs) and will be around 8 km.
We are aiming for a great day out with family and friends that is inclusive of people with all kinds of abilities, as well has enjoy a little light-hearted competition. While the Really Serious People are off sweating, the More Leisurely folk and the Cake Walkers can compete for a best dressed award should they care to enter.
We will not be having stall holders or providing food, but we are running the event at the Parramatta Riverside Park which is a great place to have a picnic, so bring a rug and a sandwich and enjoy the day. The closest parking is the Horwood Place Car Park, 71 George St Parramatta – it’s about 400m from the park.
As well as having some fun, we want to raise some funds for some of Jericho Road’s services that need financial support. These include our Refugee Response, Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital in Dundas Valley and our chaplains.
