Breaking the Silence – new web site announcement

As part of the CPU’s mission to provide the best possible support for safe ministry, on Friday 10th a new version of the BTS web site will be launched – same URL www.breakingthesilence.org.au but all new look and feel.  This is an important step in the CPU being able to provide online tools such as working with children check registration, as well as being more responsive in providing up-to-date information.

January 2016 – New Edition of BTS Issued

A new issue of Breaking the Silence (the 2015 Edition) and associated documents and brochures have been posted to all congregations.

The main changes in this Edition is the inclusion of Domestic & Family Violence. You will find details of this in Section 5 of the Policy document. It is also now included in point 10 of the Code of Conduct and the training.

You need to:

  1. Inform Session that the new Edition has been implemented and ensure they have access to the Policy document – Session should ensure that they review this document as soon as possible.
  2. Remove and destroy all previous versions of Breaking the Silence including all training material, posters and brochures.
  3. Put up the new poster – there should be one in each venue where you meet.
  4. Put out the new brochures.
  5. Distribute the Quick Check cards to relevant leaders.
  6. Use the new training material when you next complete scheduled training or for any new employees / volunteers – you do not need to complete the enclosed training if you have already completed the previous version within the past 12 months.

The training package has been reformatted for the Edition with the intention of making it available online in the near future. A workbook has been provided that can be worked through and supplemented with short video clips which are provided on the enclosed DVD. There is no full video presentation of the text included. The training package will be modified over the coming year and we will keep you informed of developments.
